Dimitri Van Landuyt, Associate Professor in Information Systems Engineering at the Research Center on Information Systems Engineering (LIRIS) within the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of KU Leuven, obtained a PhD degree in Computer Science in 2011 at Department of Computer Science of KU Leuven.

His primary research background is applying of foundational software engineering principles and techniques to contemporary software development practices. His active contributions have been on topics ranging from security and privacy by design, to cloud computing, to decentralized and distributed storage systems, to Software-as-a-Service, and emerging technologies for contemporary data sharing and valorization. With strong ties to the DistriNet research group of the department of Computer Science, Dimitri is an active contributor to the LINDDUN privacy threat modeling framework, and conducts empirical research on threat modeling approaches and tools.

He is an active member of and contributor to a wide range of scientific communities and program committees, including the International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE), the European Conference on Software Architecture (ECSA), the International Conference on Software Architecture (ICSA), the IEEE Secure Development Conference (SecDev), the Annual Privacy Forum (APF), and the International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE). He acts as Vice Program Chair for the 2024 IEEE Secure Development Conference (SecDev).

He is a recurring reviewer and contributor to journal publications such as Computers & Security (COSE), the Journal of Information Security and Applications (JISAS), the Journal of Software and Systems (JSS), the Software and Systems Modeling (SoSyM) journal.
